LULL

There are sounds

that tell us

where we are

before we open our eyes.

What does belonging sound like?

LULL is a sensory portrait of Brighton, shaped by the presence of its gulls and the rhythms of a seaside town I have come to call home.

A cry overhead. Wings cutting across the sky. The pull and retreat of the sea. Pebbles turning beneath water. Wind, weather, voices. Sounds repeated until they become so familiar we almost stop hearing them.

Moving between still photography, moving image and sound, LULL follows these rhythms as they appear, disappear and return. It asks how a place slowly enters us through repetition and whether belonging might begin not only with what we see, but with what we learn to hear.
