For one evening, LULL becomes a place to gather.

LULL LIVE LAB
Saturday £95 · Full two-day Live Lab £175
A live two-day photography intensive led by Laura El-Tantawy, using Brighton and the exhibition itself as a photographic laboratory.
We begin inside LULL before heading out into the city to photograph. The following day, we bring the work back into the space to edit, sequence and explore the visual language beginning to emerge.
Come for Saturday's making day or join the complete two-day Live Lab.
INSIDE LULL - Artist Talk & Exhibition Walk
£10 · Ticket includes a complimentary LULL poster
Join Laura El-Tantawy inside LULL for an intimate artist talk and walk through the exhibition.
Moving through the installation together, Laura will share the ideas, encounters and processes behind the work — from photographing Brighton’s gulls and listening to the city, to working across still photography, moving image and sound.
The conversation will also explore editing, experimentation, belonging and how LULL evolved from an act of looking into a sensory portrait of a place.
There will be time for questions and conversation.
LULL Opening Night

Join me for the opening night of LULL.
Come and experience the exhibition for the first time, have a drink and spend an evening together inside the work.
Drop in anytime between 5–8pm and stay for as long as you like.
Drinks will be available during the evening.
WOMEN IN DOCUMENTARY PHOTOGRAPHY
A weekend celebrating ten years of the Marilyn Stafford FotoReportage Award and the women shaping documentary photography today. Laura joins leading photographers and industry voices for a panel discussion exploring the role of women in contemporary documentary photography, alongside a programme of exhibitions, artist talks, screenings and workshops.
IMAGE WORLDS: HYBRIDITY
Laura joins an international gathering of artists, curators, writers and theorists for Image Worlds: Hybridity, a symposium marking the bicentennial of photography and exploring how images, cultures and ways of seeing intersect, evolve and create new possibilities for meaning and representation.
BRIGHTON: A CITY OF EDGES
Brighton: A City of Edges is a four-month hybrid documentary photography Studio Lab running May-August 2026. Through in-person studio weekends in Brighton and ongoing online mentoring, the Lab invites participants to explore place, belonging and personal narrative while developing a deeper, more sustained body of work.

Memory as Resistance: Archives, Inheritance & the Politics of Remembering
Who decides how memory endures, and what role does photography play in shaping collective narratives?
I’m sharing this here because it is the first event in On Seeing & Being Seen, a new talks series created through PLATFORM 2020, the online educational platform I founded, in collaboration with The VII Foundation.
Memory as Resistance: Archives, Inheritance & the Politics of Remembering brings together Max Houghton, Sana Ginwalla and Ziyah Gafic for a conversation on photography, remembrance, inheritance and the ways images can hold, resist and reshape history.
Centred on lived experience, the talk reflects on how memory is constructed, contested and carried through photography and on the importance of voices too often misrepresented or overlooked.
Live Talk: Beginnings & Endings - On Home, Belonging & the Stories We Carry
In this talk, I will reflect on how stories begin and how they end, and what lives in the space between. Drawing from key bodies of work across my practice, including my ongoing series on farming and the natural environment, I will explore photography as an act of witnessing, return and belonging. Moving between the personal and the political, the talk considers ideas of home, memory and place as central forces shaping my long-term documentary storytelling.
